The Best Medicine

Aug 18, 2023

Here are my reflections and comments from today’s scripture from Our Daily Inspirations App.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, before I read or comment on God’s word, I pray that He prepares my heart to receive his guidance and ask that He uses me as his vessel to comment on His word.

The scripture is from Proverbs 17:22 “A cheerful heart makes good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

The devotion is titled The Best Medicine by Darla Noble. To me, the message is to remind us that love and support can be the best medicine. We can take a lesson from Thelma and her church family. To what Thelma told her nurse, “My friends are covering me with so much love there’s no time for any pain.” We as Christians need to follow the formula Thelma’s church used.

Reflection: What can we do today to make someone’s life a bit more cheerful?

Here I my response: I blog every day. I can cheerfully greet people with a genuine smile and offer any assistance.

My Prayer for us: Dear God, please open our eyes and heart to see the needs of others. Help us provide them with the medicine they need to take their pain away. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

The Judge Is My Defense.

Aug 17, 2023

Here are my reflections and comments from today’s scripture from Our Daily Inspirations App.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, before I read or comment on God’s word, I pray that He prepares my heart to receive his guidance and ask that He uses me as his vessel to comment on His word.

The scripture is from Revelation 14:7 “He said with a loud voice, ‘Fear the Lord, and give him glory, for the hour of his judgement has come. Worship him who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and the springs of waters!’.”

The devotion is titled The Judge Is My Defense by Sam. We are reminded that all of us will face judgement day with Jesus as the judge. Imagine, in this courtroom, each of us is the defendant and Satan is the prosecuting attorney. He will present to the world all the sins we have ever committed. Of course, Satan will demand the death penalty.  Frankly our case is hopeless, unless we know Jesus, the judge. If we have repented of our sins and accepted Him into our hearts, He is our defense attorney. Jesus takes his own blood and signs his name over them, and pronounces us innocent, and we enter heaven. Jesus wants to be our defense attorney. Why will we not let Him? Today is a good day to let Him be your defense attorney.

Reflection: How can we let Jesus be our defense attorney?

Here was my response: Irepented of my sins and accept Jesus into my heart.

My Prayer for us: Dear Jesus, thank You for dying for us, for trading our sinful lives with Your sinless life. Please come into our hearts and live forever in us. In Your name we pray, Amen.

I Could Tell by the Way You Did Your Job

Aug 16, 2023

Here are my reflections and comments from today’s scripture from Our Daily Inspirations App.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, before I read or comment on God’s word, I pray that He prepares my heart to receive his guidance and ask that He uses me as his vessel to comment on His word.

The scripture is from 3 John 1:5, “Beloved, you do a faithful work in whatever you accomplish for those who are brothers and strangers.”

The devotion is titled I Could Tell by the Way You Did Your Job by Darla Noble and Joyverse.  We are reminded that God has placed us where we best fit to further glorify Him. We are to do our best to glorify Him.

Reflection: How does always giving our best effort to everything we do reflect the message of the Gospel to others?

Here was my response: For me, I give my best because it is God who put me in this position.  I want to do my best because I have to answer to Him.

My Prayer for us: Dear Lord, thank you for the work we have been given. May our employers and customers find us kind, courteous, and trustworthy. Please help us to remember that we are Your ambassadors here on earth. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

All Things Are Possible with God

Aug 15, 2023

Here are my reflections and comments from today’s scripture from Our Daily Inspirations App.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, before I read or comment on God’s word, I pray that He prepares my heart to receive his guidance and ask that He uses me as his vessel to comment on His word.

The scripture is from Matthew 19:26, “Looking at them, Jesus said, ‘With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible’”.

The devotion is titled All things are Possible with God by Pastor Ken.  Philippians 4:13 reminds us that we can do all things through Christ who give us strength. We will have problems and difficult and/or painful situations. With Jesus as our Lord of our lives these issues won’t paralyze or send us into anxiety and depression. We are living with the solution to whatever life brings to us (Christ).

Reflection: Do you believe that God can solve every problem you have? Is your belief based upon God solving your problems the way you want Him to?

Here was my response: For me, I believe god can solve every problem I have. It is no based upon what I want, but upon His infinite wisdom. I will continue to ask God to give me strength, patience, and faith to let him take care of my problems. I hope you will do the same.

My Prayer for us: Dear Jesus, we understand that we can face life’s challenges boldly because You are with us and will make all things work for our good. We know that with you all things are possible. In Your name we pray, Amen.

The Gate is Open

Aug 14, 2023

Here are my reflections and comments from today’s scripture from Our Daily Inspirations App.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, before I read or comment on God’s word, I pray that He prepares my heart to receive his guidance and ask that He uses me as his vessel to comment on His word.

The scripture is from Psalm 118:24-25, “This is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it! Save us now, we beg you, Lord! Lord, we beg you, send prosperity now.”

The devotion is titled The Gate is Open by Heather Tietz.  Psalm 118:24-25 reminds us that we are no longer imprisoned in sin, stuck in our addictions, lost in our loneliness, hunted by guilt, chained to repeating same mistakes. Why? Heaven is open to all who want God’s gift of Jesus. God made so He could offer us a full, prosperous life full of all genuine goodness, a life overflowing on Earth and life eternal. God has a plan to save everyone who wants to be saved. Heaven’s gate is open for us.

Reflection: Is it possible to be prosperous in a way that doesn’t involve money? What part of your life is especially prosperous?

Here was my response: For me, I can be prosperous in sharing God’s word, praying, rejoicing, and grieving with others.

My Prayer for us: Dear God, we rejoice in Your goodness and in Your love. Thank You for planning our salvation. Thank You for saving us and providing for a prosperous life while we live here on Earth. We will praise Your glory forever. In Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.

Jesus Set the Bar

Aug 11, 2023

Here are my reflections and comments from today’s scripture from Our Daily Inspirations App.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, before I read or comment on God’s word, I pray that He prepares my heart to receive his guidance and ask that He uses me as his vessel to comment on His word.

The scripture is from Luke 6:37, “Don’t judge, and you won’t be judged. Don’t condemn, and you won’t be condemned. Set free and you will be set free.”

The devotion is titled Jesus Set the Bar by Darla Noble and Joyverse.  Jesus cautions us not to judge others. We are reminded that we are all sinners. The Bible makes it very clear that all have broken God’s law. When we judge or condemn, we are accusing without giving any hope or encouragement for change. Our job is to share the Gospel which brings hope, repentance, salvation, and living a life of faith.

Reflection: While we are warned not to judge others, we are called to hold each other accountable. What is the difference?

Here was my response: We are all sinners and will fall short. When Jesus returns, we will stand before the judgment seat and account for our actions and sins.

My Prayer for us: Dear God, please help us see others the way You do, as those who are lovable and whose sins are covered by the cross just like ours are. Give us the wisdom to not judge, but to present the Word and set an example of one who lives the way You called us to live. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.

Our Greatest Need

Aug 10, 2023

Here are my reflections and comments from today’s scripture from Our Daily Inspirations App.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, before I read or comment on God’s word, I pray that He prepares my heart to receive his guidance and ask that He uses me as his vessel to comment on His word.

The scripture is from Genesis 28:20-22, “Jacob vowed a vow, saying’ If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and clothing to put on, so that I come again to my father’s house in peace, and the Lord will be my God, then this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, will be God’s house. Of all that you will give me I will surely give a tenth to you’”

The devotion is titled Our Greatest Need by John Michalak.  As we know, the connection between what we need and how well we follow God goes back to Adam and Eve. We are in fear that our needs will not be met, so we don’t put seek God first, as evidenced in Jacob’s vow to God. Jesus said to first seek God’s kingdom and His righteous and all these (your needs) will be given to you. Here is the deal, through the cross, Jesus has already met our greatest need. We can be secure that He will take care of everything we will ever need.

Reflection: How often do we put all our needs in God’s capable hands?

Here was my response: Now that I am a child of god, I put all me needs in God’s capable hands. I hope you do so, also.

My Prayer for us: Dear God, we want to make You first and foremost in our lives. We cast all our worries and anxieties on You. You are more than enough for us. Please provide the necessities of our lives and bless us with enough extra that we can be a blessing to others. Thank you for Your eternal faithfulness. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Overwhelmed With Passion

Aug 9, 2023

Here are my reflections and comments from today’s scripture from Our Daily Inspirations App.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, before I read or comment on God’s word, I pray that He prepares my heart to receive his guidance and ask that He uses me as his vessel to comment on His word.

The scripture is from Acts 4:19-20, “But Peter and John answered them,‘ Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God judge for yourselves, for we can’t help telling the things which we saw and heard.’”

The devotion is titled Overwhelmed With Passion by Heather Tietz.  We are reminded of courage of many people who defy authorities to do God’s will. Whether we are called to rescue, build, fight, or tell others about Jesus, God can start a passion in you that will give you the courage to follow where He leads.

Reflection: What in life can we find ourselves most passionate about? What aspect of our faith do we find ourselves most passionate about? Do we have a passion for God that is as strong as our passion for other things or other people?

Here was my response: To be honest, I find myself most passionate about tennis. I like the workout, competition, and commonality among fellow tennis players. Have no doubt that I have the strongest passion for God and keeping Him first in my life, seeking out and doing His will.

My Prayer for us: Dear God, please give us passion for those things You’ve created us to do for You. Help us to bravely move forward. Let our actions and words be full of love. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

God’s “Save the Date”

Aug 7, 2023

Here are my reflections and comments from today’s scripture from Our Daily Inspirations App.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, before I read or comment on God’s word, I pray That He prepares my heart to receive his guidance and ask that He uses me as his vessel to comment on His word.

The scripture is from Exodus 20:11, “For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day; therefore, the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.”

The devotion is titled God’s “Save the Date” by Pastor Ken.  We are reminded that God established the Sabbath to have one special day a week with us. God wants us to observe three things from this passage. God created the earth for us to enjoy and appreciate His work. God rested on the Sabbath. He wants us to take a physical and spiritual break that God wants us to share with Him. God established the Sabbath as a day of fellowship with Him.

Reflection: God wants to spend a special day with us. He wants us to rest and recharge. What one way we can rest physically and spiritually?

Here was my response: The way I can physically rest is to relax and recover from the weeklong drudgery and tensions that comes from working. One way I can rest spiritually by devoting my time to commune with God and to receive His blessings.

My Prayer for us: Dear God, We need Your rest and relaxation. We recognize that You have made the Sabbath as a special blessing for us. We don’t want to miss out on any of Your blessings. Please help us keep the Sabbath so that we can experience these blessings from You. I Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Our Soulmate

Aug 7, 2023

Here are my reflections and comments from today’s scripture from Our Daily Inspirations App.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, before I read or comment on God’s word, I pray That He prepares my heart to receive his guidance and ask that He uses me as his vessel to comment on His word.

The scripture is from 1Peter1:8-9, “Whom, not having known, you love. In him, though now you don’t see him, yet believing, you rejoice greatly with joy that is unspeakable and full of glory, receiving the result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.”

The devotion is titled Our Soulmate by Heather Tietz.  We are reminded that Jesus is our soulmate. He shares our fundamental values. We love God, others, and ourselves. Jesus’ core traits we emulate like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control. Since we have passionate love for Jesus, we invite Him into our hearts. Jesus stays on our minds, and we look forward to spending time with Him, praising, telling our stories, giving our ailments and dilemmas to fix. We are always eager for His comfort. Therefore, everyday spend time soaking up Jesus’ word and feeling you are loved.

Reflection: In what way do you most love to spend time with God.

Here was my response: I love to spend time with God at sunrise. I spend this time reading His word and sharing it with others.

My Prayer for us: Dear Lord, Thank you for loving us and providing a way for our salvation. We will study, memorize, and hide Your words in our hearts. We look forward to the day when we can see You face to face. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
